OK, everyone. I have a dilemma. I want to do something different with my hair without chopping it off. But what?

My husband has forbidden me to get a perm. Even though I have the perm, papers and even the rollers ALL FROM AMERICA, he still says NO. And not a cute, maybe-if-you-beg-I-might-say-yes "NO", but a firm get-the-idea-out-of-your-head "NO". I even tried pouting and sulking but all to no avail.

Sigh.

So what's a girl to do?

It's late and I've looked at over 1000 pictures online, trying to come up with a nice looking yet practical solution to my stick straight, baby fine hair. I'm soliciting your advice. What can I do with my hair that will make it look different without going terribly shorter?

I've posted this photo so you can get a good look at my face and its shape. Extremely oval, in case you hadn't noticed.

My hair now is all one length/no bangs with slight layers toward the bottom. It's about 1/2-1 inch below my chin.It has taken a lot of willpower to grow out my bangs and I really enjoy being able to keep them out of my face with a ponytail and not have to use clips, etc. So cutting bangs/short all over layers is not the best option but, I mean, what are my options, right?

As much as I HATE having bangs in my face (not to mention the stress of getting them cut in a flattering way) I get less "Omg, you're soooo skinny" comments with I have bangs.

Sara, Leah, Shelly, Becca, Amanda...whoever! What do you think? Should I (a) just keep growing it out or (b) satisfy my craving for something different only to fall prey to more clips and rubber bands as it grows because I don't have the time to style it anyway?!

See? A real dilemma!

I thought your hair was cute the way it was.Can add a layered bang. Maybe even a blond bob-do...

Hey, Sis! I just got my hair cut and colored. I went with sort of angled bangs. They are layered to the right since I am left handed. That way I can have then across my forehead or to the side out of my face. Maybe that would work? Stewart reminded me that I never like perms when I do them...it still allows me to wash and go. I love you. Leah

Ok the problem with me trying to help you is that I don't know how to say these hair styles in english. I wonder why Hetee ah won't allow you to do whatever you want to do with your hair. When Lily (my gf) decided to go bald I told her I won't like it but she went and shaved her hair bald this spring.

I have really fine, super straight hair too. My husband doesn't like perms or colors either. The popular cut in the States right now is a long bang that angles to the side. You could get the bangs cut to ear length and be able to pull it to the side or clip it back easily. (But, I think you look pretty without the bangs.)Then if you just left the length but got some long layers cut, just enough to give it a little flip up on the ends, it might be you feel better. I always go through times where I desperately need a change too. I hope you find something that works.

Well there is an idea...Go bald! You won't have to worry about it getting in your face, it isn't a perm, and you won't have to style it!

Aside from that, if you don't want short or bangs....Maybe some curlers at night? I don't know. Is it that Hetee doesn't like your hair curly? I think you look great with short hair.

I have thin baby fine hair that is normally straight and won't do much of anything. I have been on a quest for the perfect hairstyle my whole life. Don't get a perm. I got a perm about a year ago and hate it. I wish I could get it out. It is much drier and very messed up when I wake up.

I think a side swept bang would look nice on you. A bang that is long enough you could still pin up if needed. What about just wearing your hair up on the sides and bangs and leave the rest down around your shoulders? I will do this with a rubber band and then put a small clip over the rubberband to keep it from being so flat on top. What about just cutting some shorter layers around your face or even to the bottom of your chin?

Thanks for all the neat ideas guys. And no, Thomas, I'm not going with the bald idea. Or the bleached blonde idea.

I think I've settled on Christy's idea but first I want to to grow it out a little more. then do the layer thing but with longer layers. So I'm going to grow it out over the Winter and possibly do something in the Spring.

So...thanks guys!

Hair always grows back. Have fun, go crazy, shoot the moon, be a kid. Hetee will get over it; heck, he may even like it. You might even like it. Not sure this is godly advice but like I said, hair grows back and gives others the opportunity to work on their answers when women ask, "What do you think of my hair?"
